In Salvador, the neighbourhood decides the trip. The city stretches along the bay and the Atlantic, traffic is real, and a hotel that looks central on a map can leave you 40 minutes from dinner. For a first visit, most people are happiest in Barra, Rio Vermelho or Ondina.
